| to me it is either a love song talking about someone (m/f), or it could be about his child? "i live inside of you." "don't worry baby i'm watching as you sleep"... sounds like a mixture of both. the woman he loves, it's not always perfect "i see me and you / then it's him i'm thinking of" AND the child they have. confusion and love. | |

it is about kevin ayers, who did fuck john cale's wife. i think he does what people with a good imagination do: he acts out the violence and revenge in his head [people with no imagination might actually act violent, sadly]. but in the end, violence and violent revenge do not make sense. if anyone has a clue on the french bit etc. please go ahead. |

finally i made an account here :) first i gotta say: true @bkat004! i think this song might be about some kind of drug, as john cale is in no way a religious man. my favourite lines are "Time to kill on the hill Looking at bees, licking the trees Looking for signs .." first i thought it meant "time to kill [somebody/something]", but it just came to my mind: he has some time to kill on the hill, and looks at the bees, well, and maybe he did lick the trees :) sounds like a nice drug, doesn't it? if i happen to come across it in the john cale autobiography i'll post it. |
