For me, the song is directed to God/Christ. God gathers up the lost souls... and those that sold their souls to the world. He comforts the weak and upholds the strong, even the pitiful. Matthew 19:26 26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Give up the ghost? Give your soul to God? That's my opinion. Is Thom a Christian?
