The fact that it comes from the Rated R album means it was about all the feelings she went through in her relationship with Chris Brown. She said it in an interview with Sway. She didn't go into each song separately, but she did say that the entire album represents her feelings and what she went through. Being from an abusive relationship myself, I can totally relate to the entire CD and I think its one of her best to date, at least for me. When you are in that kind of relationship, the truth is, you ARE playing a game of Russian roulette because you never know if you are literally going to be killed the next time he beats you. And when it says "he's been here before" you could take that literally in a domestic abuse relationship because 9 times out of 10, that guy has beat another woman before you and has never truly been punished for it. She is scared to leave him and he's testing her constantly to prove her love for him. Every time I listen to this song, I am so thankful to be out of that relationship, this song truly has a place in my heart. |

I'm a mother of three. I think this song is inappropriate for children and therefore, tell my daughter who is 10 not to listen to it, or watch the video and she BETTER not sing it. Its called TEACHING. And because my daughter listens and knows what is and isn't appropriate, she listens to me. I'm sure she has an idea of what it is about, and that is why she listens to me about not listening to it. There are other songs that are not so obviously inappropriate, and she is not allowed to listen to those either. I agree with some other posters, turn the station. Or, if you have a CD player or other, listen to your own music. Its just that simple. Talk to her about stuff, play games in the car. You know its inappropriate, so take action as the parent. |

When I first heard it, that is exactly what I thought. I also struggle with bipolar disorder and when you are out of control, this is what it feels like. Only people who have bipolar disorder can understand what its like and I related to the song in that way as well. I'd like to know if Rihanna wrote the song or if someone else wrote it and what their intention was myself. I truly think that a person that goes through this wrote it because I can't see how anyone could be so in depth with what happens to you could write it. I mean that other person who wrote about government and conspiracy theory could be correct, but I take it more literal. But then again, I'm biased. |

This is DEFINITELY a great theory. I would never even have thought that, but I don't think its that deep. What I do think is that its about mental health and a person who truly is disturbed and can't deal with that state. The person is trapped inside themselves mentally and can't get out although they are trying. I think that whoever wrote this, I think its quite literal. I could be wrong though but it sounds exactly like mental illness and how people experience it. But I love your interpretation of it. |
