| Eleven – Reach Out Lyrics | 14 years ago |

After reading this interview about his new album Spark and his songwriting in general, I think that this song is written about a flower and its cycle of life: "We (the band Eleven) tried to be simple like a poem, whether it was in tone form or from a different perspective, like the perspective of a flower or a plant and what's that like, for example the impulse of reaching toward the sun while carried on the back of a bee." The other images that seemed confusing now make sense too: The plant gains the energy to break out of its core and grow towards the sun. "kiss from my mother": Mother Earth nourishing the flower "smile at my father": the flower growing towards the sky (which fertilizes the ground with rain)/or God "My colors displayed": the flower in full bloom "On the back of a bee...": The bees transport the pollen, and thereby the cycle begins anew Interesting how one small change of perspective can make all the pieces fall into place... |
