To me this song is about just how mixed up and confusing love can be. Sometimes we just wish that we were in love with someone so much that it's almost forced, and eventually you just end up being hostile or indifferent to each other. Specifically though this song is about the summer. I don't know about other's but to me everything seems different in the summer. "Living room was on the lawn", "skinny dipping with the kids from a nearby town" both describe the feelings of summer perfectly. You know that feeling you got in your stomach when you were a teenager in the summer? The excited yet relaxed sensation you feel in the pit of your stomach, knowing you don't have a thing to worry about? Things just seem different, people who wouldn't normally talk to each other become best friends, and couples that wouldn't normally work, work. Thats what this song means to me. Two people who wouldn't normally be together come together in the summer, even though they maybe don't really even love each other. But at the end of the summer things change and they realize they don't love each other. This might not make sense at all, it was really difficult to communicate just really what i think of this song. |

| This song to me is all about how their relationship cannot go on any longer, but for one more night they can love each other and be together. Their is a contrast in their relationship in which they are loving and caring towards each other but it such a rough way. "He grabs her by the hair, strokes her on the cheek", "I'll kill who you hate, take off that dress you won't freeze." To me it's about closure, letting go of someone that you know you can't be with, even though you still have feelings for them. | |
