@[jenny22:16164] If he was still alive the song wouldn't be called "My Immortal" IMO. plus it talks about "all these years." No I'm pretty sure the person being sung about is dead. |

A loved one passing and not being able to tell them all you were able to while you were alive. They suffered immensely in life (When you cried, I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream, I'd fight away all of your fears). They died suddenly and you wished you'd told them how you really felt. Perhaps the person was depressed and they committed suicide. |

@[acevesam:16162] Sorry I think you're wrong and it's pretty arrogant to think you have the "one" interpretation.
To me she's in a codependent relationship. in other words, she knows her lover is bad fro her, btu she's addicted to him. |

@[PhoebeQ:16160] Rhianna didn't write the song so it's doubtful it's about Chris Brown, btu I believe she choose to sing it because of her relationship with him. |

A codependent relationship. One that was doomed from the start. However the narrator of the song wants the other person in the song (we'll say the narrator is female and other one is male since this a Rihanna song) wants the relationship to continue.
The man has been bad news for the woman for some time, perhaps even been abusive. He has broken her heart, but her feelings have not vanished. She wants to help him get over his demons but realizes that she is "the one that needed saving" because of that. (Funny you're the broken one but I'm the only one who needed saving).
The song is not about Chris Brown as Rhianna did not write it, however the song was written for her or chosen by/for her because of her relationship with him I believe. |

It's about losing love and praying that it will come back to you (Please don't leave...true love waits etc.) . It has a haunting message. Perhaps the love that the narrator is singing about has left this plain of existence and hoping she will return. |

The lyrics to this song are wrong. The first line is "I'll drown my beliefs, to have your babies."
To me it seems like it's about someone still in love with someone in the past...possibly dead. The person in love is longing for the other to be back, saying "don't leave" when the other person has already left. |

I also have to point out that I think the main character of this song is talking to himself. |

Actually the song never had a name back then. Big Ideas and Big Ideas (Don't Get Any) were nicknames the fans gave to the song. If you see the documentary Meeting People is Easy it explains this (It also plays the original version of the song). |

I don't get where you got the religious references too. Where the hell do you think that Yorke would write a song just to bash the Bible? just to let you know, Yorke has stated several times he is spiritual. He is not a Christian as far as I know, but not an atheist either. He's studied Buddhism, but doesn't identify himself as a Buddhist.
Thom Yorke may write songs that are perceived as depressing, but he himself is not a depressed person generally. In many of his interviews he is laughing and joking around. He did not "Break the glass and use the shards to slit his wrists." That's not even close to a good metaphor.
When you get to it EVERY song is about life. |

Probably my favorite song by Radiohead, one of the few modern songs to have made me cry. I think it's about infidelity, a man has cheated on his wife of girlfriend and feels guilty about it, and now temptation has come back (hence the last line). |

LionsGalore --I'm a self injurer and I never objected to the terms "cutting" or "cutter".
And yes, I know Palmer said this is about nails, but what she was describing WAS a form of self-injury. Also can't see how scratching one's name relates to biting your nails... |
