This song is deliciously pessimistic. Its not depressing or a downer, its sounds more frustrated to me. I feel like this a lot, and here the singer is just venting about it. He points out that sometimes there are just things out of your control "can't make the sun rise," references to weather, etc. |

The singer wants to be with this girl so much, but he questions if its foolish of him to have his heart so set on being with her so early on. He wants them to be together right then and there, not to wait, and knows how incredible they could be together. He wants her to comfort him, and he promises to give her everything, because he thinks she deserves better than who he is. This song is really personal to me, I hate it when people say that, but its so often very true. |

This song is so beautiful and heart wrenching at the same time. I think the singer is directing this song to someone he loves dearly who is struggling with a huge problem (mental illness, self-esteem issues, drugs, whatever). He's watching her give up and urging her to be strong, even though he is starting to doubt their future, and combating the lies she tells herself "I'll hold you close and show you you're not broken." That line just gets me. SWS is phenomenal. |
