The song's meaning is very simple. A guy who seems to have everything that someone who doesn't have it who describe as an ideal life, but the guy's life is void of happiness. He has a pretty face, is well-off financially, yet he's unhappy. Since he has it all, he can't possibly fathom why he's unhappy (his own fault), so he scapegoats his lack of happiness on other people or anything other than himself. |

I don't know why people are bashing this song/video so harshly. I don't think it's that bad, and pretty original. Minaj's background in acting really lets per portray different personalities and it's interesting to see in action. To add onto Rowkem, she's also dissing Shakira (cheetah in the cage) and Katy Perry (lollypop, pink hair) |

I think the subject matter/message of this song is really blatant. Simply put, it's talking about synthesizers becoming so advanced that it begins to become better and more variable than actual instruments. The video is showing the consequences of embracing synthesizers, making real instruments and the talent/skill with playing them obsolete and/or unnecessary, losing an important part of culture. |

@IronAngel: I definitely see the song being drug related. I also agree that MDMA is mentioned, but I think it also includes opiates/anti-anxiety drugs/alcohol as well. 'she says at all without a thought in her head she says it all as shes pressed up against me a little something just to take off the edge a little more and ill fall off the planet entirely' I'm seeing this as drug addiction. Most drug addictions literally take over your mind and that is the ONLY thing you think about. To me, the verse is talking about something other than MDMA, a depressant/anti-anxiety drug that has a low LD-50. @stwjester I agree that it includes music, but I think the first verse insinuates MDMA use, as MDMA is commonplace in the rave culture. "Caught by the four on the floor" could refer to someone rolling being really into the music that's playing. |

@NuocMama I was thinking the same thing. The song name itself can be attributed to meth (affair that causes a famine). "Wish we weren't so complicated/wish you weren't so medicated" could be a reference to the fact that meth is available as a medication under the name Desoxyn. |
