The Knife – Lasagna Lyrics 14 years ago
The Knife has some of the worst lyrics of all time.

Seriously, this is just stupid.

Great beats however.

Botch – Transitions From Persona To Object Lyrics 14 years ago
^

Yep, I think even Dave V in the past hinted at that conclusion as well.

A lot of Botch songs mocked notions of civilization and contemporary (past) societal standards.

Japam is a great example of this.

Botch – C. Thomas Howell as the "Soul Man" Lyrics 14 years ago
Dave V was known for his ardent witticism in the lyric department, but he is also known for his level of self-deprecation.

I think the title alone shows the humorous side of how, yes, in fact this song was a bit of a scoff at bands like Racetraitor (if not specifically them, although not entirely) it also simply mocked the notion of a lot of heavy music, such as hardcore. Bands like 108, the Hari Krishna hardcore noise.

A lot of hardcore bands, early coalesce, were very preachy and this song was a little jab at the idea of preaching all these ideologies with stale music.

Botch always managed to expand their sound. Hardcore never sounded, nor ever will, sound like Botch (ignoring a lot of their first material which was nothing special - granted I love it).

You can also clearly see its a bit of a jab at themselves, you have to have a good sense of humor to be in a band where you yell like a big angry toddler.

I think the title was more a play on the idea of image-driven consciousness.

In the end, its your fault, for fucking up the kids.

Botch – Afghamistam Lyrics 14 years ago
Actually, this song was supposedly about Dave Knudson spending more time with Minus the Bear, in it's initial stages, then with Botch.

Dave K has said in many interviews, and repeated on several occasions, that by the time of We Are the Romans +, Botch would spend about a month on a song. The songwriting process was very long and demanding, not to mention - if you haven't noticed, Dave K voiced a lot of displeasure with the hardcore community (as did the band in its entirety). When websites, sad to see those days ago, still mattered...there was a famous line that hung on the top banner of your web browser for Botch's site.

That quote read something like, our band is like Jesus...dead so yours can live.

A lot of that was about Dave K moving away from Botch and focusing on Minus the Bear while the rest of the band began to implode.

Later, with the final release of a letdown DVD, the band disbanded in 2002 after about 10 year.

Apparently after Roy, Dave V (singer) is in another heavy band called Narrows on Bannon's DeathWish records.

Funny, all of us hardcore kids (back when that genre wasn't xcorex) always find ourselves bashing the genre but coming back for more...

except Dave K, he can actually play his instrument.

ha.
