| I think she is like many women who are devoted romantically to someone who is a "player." There may be but not necessarily drugs involved. But, there are other women and varying degrees of relationships with these others. She may be the most regarded of them all, but that doesn't alleviate the emotional pain it causes for her. She notices things or suspects and asks questions, but he lies and tells her things to "patch things up." That's all he's interested in. Nothing deeper. But, she is honest in her feelings, and naturally wants him to feel the same way. She may know in her hear what the truth is, but his lies are what she wants to believe. And really, unless you personally witness something, it is all a matter of interpretation and you can't know more than what you're being told for the most part, and not for sure. Although it's probably easy for him to keep leading her on because she probably always tends to give him the benefit of the doubt, because she is biased toward him and wants things to be okay. There are some who would say she is doing this out of love, and some who would say she is doing it out of dysfunction and co-dependence. It's probably some of both, although what she wishes for is for the relationship to be good and for him to be true to her, and that seems normal enough. I think if the heart is involved, it's not a fair game to play. Although the player would say that people take out what they want (to see, hear and believe), and don't see any problem knowing that the other is not on the same page, or consider themselves deceptive for employing this as a practice. | |
