I think "And I'll defy everyone who loves you still", should say "And I'll defy everyone and love you still". It makes sense because he is saying he will defy everything he was told about love, how it wont last, and all the fears that come along with it. He will love her for the rest of his life even after she dies. Its better to love and I will love you till I die |

The song is obviously about how some poeple almost seem fake or untouchable untill they have fallen at some point. I didn't know what you were made of the colour of your blood, what you're afraid of are you made of calcium or are you carbon-based and if you're made of calcium i'll have to take a taste cause, listen, calcium is deadly tender to the tooth and it's one sure-fire way to know if you're MX-missile-proof, oh no, or if you're just aloof Organic, or living beings are carbon based where on the other hand minnerals are calcium based. So if you are made of carbon, then you are a living creatur. If you are made of calcium, you would actually be some kind of statue "proped up in the hardware store". |

| I think that "Lived unbrused, we are friends" also means when people hurt us we must forgive so that we can move on. A burse hurts to the tuch and if we let things bruse us then everytime you tuch that part of your life it will hurt. Also the line "One foot in sea and one on shore" means because he has trouble puting his whole faith in christ he will always have to walk along the shores looking into the sea. If he could truly put his faith in Christ he could walk across the sea. just some things I picked up. | |

I think most of the interpretations on here could be correct. That is the beauty of this song. It could mean so much. I pose one more interpretation to you though. He used to be able to sleep "I could sleep." Now something has changed that is keeping him up at night "When I lived alone". He still lives alone, so there must be something there that is keeping him awake "Is there a ghost in my house?" Something has changed and he knows what it is, but he doesn't want to admit it. So he try to find other things to place the lack of sleep on. In the video the girl places the blame on her pillow and blankets, so she steals other peoples pillows and blankets. People who she sees sleeping soundly. Because if they can sleep using these pillows and blankets then maybe she can as well. She finds out that no matter how many pillows she trys, she still cannot sleep. This is a representation of how people deal with their problems. Deep down we know what the issue is, but we dont want to face it. So we search for other things to blame it on. Anything but the truth.... This is my interpretation. |
