It seems like a lot of incredible songs like this are the artist/lyricist very cryptically saying that he or she is God manifested as a person, or as an event in time. But they can't come right out and say it else we think they've gone off the deep end; hence the "is it safe to say it's me" line. He's obviously reflecting on the beauty of destruction and how it needs to happen, because it keeps us together. A kind of knowing that we're going to fall apart but still needing to pursue love for it's own value. And he's understanding this, realizing there is nothing we can do to stop it so "don't ask why. Just live and die." Incredible when it all comes together. A great song. |
