let me just clear this up, its not at all about OD'ing, you think a fucking genius would write about something so simple as "dont do too much of drugs or you'll die" what hes saying is when you're life isnt as good as you wish (he uses many metaphors to say this one) that you cant keep getting high to escape those problems, they will never leave you and you cant hide from reality by getting high all the time ("dont ever get stuck in the sky") its just not a possible way out bottom line is, yes cannabis is without a doubt the safest drug in the world, but even with that you need to control how you use it, and DONT USE IT TO ESCAPE REAL LIFE, BUT TO APPRECIATE IT |

| the song is obviously about a friend that commited suicide but anyways the line "dont you, realise, that evil, lives in the mother fucking skin", really got to me its like, everyone has evil in them, with the potentiol to grow and grow to drive someone to want to end thier own life, and damn does serj's voice get to me, he can be a fucking insane monster and feed you nothing but anger then the next second make you want to cry, fuck. | |

all i can conclude from this mind boggling song is that well, it stimulated youre mind, and i think thats what he(they) were trying to do to us, showing us the beauty of philosophy, and instead him just straight-forwardly telling you, "the mind is an amazing thing" like in other songs, he is genius enough to get you to actually live out the message, short interpretation: (mocking voice) "free thinkers are dangerous" , serj replies, "die, gonna let you motherfuckers die", basically saying anyone who lets their potentially amazing mind be controlled by another, or forces inferior minds to be controlled by them, dosent deserve to live |

I dont believe this song is about atheism, targeting churches, or even about god. I think they're just trying to wake people up, I shall elaborate. "come warm your hands on hellfire and brimstone" make yourself feel better about your occupation. "empty the pockets of the innocent victom" by enforcing certain religions on people since birth, therefore emptying the pockets of innocent victims, they have no choice but to accept the religion cause they were born into it. "gave upon the stairs of naivety,two thousand years replaced with, eighteen inches of our FAITH" naive people who are born into religion are, metophorically speaking, staring, they have no choice but to accept what they are told, mankind has been on this earth for 2000 years yet we completely disregard that and think a person can live thier life off of a book. "and this reflection, on where the message lies, stained glass and marble, or somewhere deep inside." bluntly speaking, can we really let people live off of a book? or off thier SELVES, only deep inside can we find an answer to all our problems, this line greatly resonates the bands name too. people try to control the world when really they just destroy peoples potentiol in the process. "to read these words, you keep looking down, but in the sky, this message is writtin in the clouds" just beautiful... you spend so much time looking down reading text in black and white in attempts to better yourself, bt if you take the chance and look up for once, you can find YOURSELF, you have no limits, you are the sky. |
