The Wonder Years – Madelyn Lyrics | 11 years ago |
This song is about somebody in the bands sister. Sounds like she has a addiction problem. I don't think there's a god; I don't think that there's someone coming to save us And I don't think that's the worst news of the day these lyrics are telling her a "GOD cant save her but maybe he can help. Madelyn, are you really afraid of death or do you just say it if it's the right thing to say? " He is scared she doesnt care if she dies, even if she says otherwise. Maybe it is about a family member that died way back when and he is trying to relate to her? IDK |

The Wonder Years – An American Religion (FSF) Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I think this song is about not conforming to what everyone wants you to do. People are pulling strings(paying for bullets to shoot at your feet") to get you to do what your "supposed to do" but do what makes you happy because sometimes following the safe road doesnt mean you'll be OK "I knew a lot of talented kids who got lost in painkillers and turned into nothing." |
The Wonder Years – Teenage Parents Lyrics | 11 years ago |
This song is defiantly about growing up poor and struggling. But being proud of it. |
The Wonder Years – The Devil in My Bloodstream Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I think this song is talking about the generation of his grandfather. Describing his funeral and wondering about his life. How he can relate his life to his grandfathers. The blackbirds on the road he see's are like the war drum his grandfather heard while fighting in a war. The difference that he found with his grandfather is that his grandfather knew where he was marching. He has to march into the unknown. Life on the road, is the making the right decision? Looking at his grandfathers life to try to resolve his conflicts. |
The Wonder Years – The Bastards, the Vultures, the Wolves Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I think this song might be about growing up in a broken home. Coming from that "generation" of growing up with divorced parents. The album is called The Greatest Generation, i think maybe the songs might be about different generations. I come from ma broken home and the way thats the way I relate to it the most. The opening line "im angry like im 18 again" reminds me of how sometimes now that im older I have those angry feelings of being from a broken home can sometimes leak out in adult situations. Like I have a chip on my shoulder sometimes. The lyric " we built this out of sweat and spit, with our hearts in place of brick" i think is describing building a broken home like having to be forced into a situation with a parents spouse and the act of forcing a home together. Having hearts that are hard and cold as brick. Sweat and spit just to me sounds liek a forced thing. Like a forced home. I know I was an angry kid But I scraped and scratched for this Now I'm stuck holding a bomb With a fuse that's still lit They'll never let me rest again And yeah I came out swinging But I'm still walking out With two black eyes and a split lip to me these lyrics remind me of dealing with anger issues and a short fuse. Having to fight all the time, being defensive my whole life. The Devil's got a rifle on my front porch With me in his sights He knows I came looking for a fight I came here looking for a fight these lyrics to me mean having to come home to hell. The devil is on the front porch. Having to fight once you get home. Anyway thats what I take from this amazing song I know its prob not what it actually means but this is how I relate to it. Love this song and this band. |
