R.E.M. – Try Not To Breathe Lyrics 14 years ago
The song is most likely about an elderly person who would like to end thier life before they become feeble and senile. He or she has lived a full life and experienced things that a younger person could not relate to. The Great Depression, World Wars 1 and 2, gas that only cost cents per gallon to purchase, and other examples like that. "I have seen things that you will never see." You're darned right we will never see gas at 20, 30, 40 cents a gallon again, and we all hope we never see another World War.

This person is in a good place right now, and would like to die before they decline into illness and senility. To me it makes perfect sense too. While you still actually know your loved ones, you want to say a proper "Goodbye". Don't worry about me, I am leaving the world in a good state of mind and body. I am happy, I have been happy, and now, I am ready to be done. Please let me. Don't force me to hold my breath, because I will, if I have to, I will.

Toto – It's A Feeling Lyrics 14 years ago
This is a wonderful song. Listening to it on a quality sound system is bliss....the strings, the subtle bassline, the guitar, the treble of the cymbals. I agree with Starquest, it must be about an old lover looking into what was once his/her home; "Wondering who's in his old armchair". This person is missing the life he/she once had. Why couldn't it last?
