this song is heavily esoteric in my opinion, so much so that the only reason i have an inkling about its meaning is because of my personal experiences with...brace yourselves...ET's. yes, in general it's just about having a good time, but what he's really talking about is the esoteric science of "the level". what is the level? it's basically a "setting" on the human mind that can make everything euphoric. it may have come into being around the recording of this song as it was our will, as well as our Creator's. is that weird enough for ya, or what? |

It's possible i'm repeating some points that have already been made, as i can't read all 91 comments made before mine, but... Others have suggested this song is about drug abuse, and they're probably right. Here's some clues that suggest that: 1. "There's someone down below blowing you a kiss." Could be symbolic of all the people that love this person; If they're literally referring to one person; If it's literally one person, it could be a drug dealer leaving their house. Kinda a funny thought, but you never know... 2. "They watch from their windows as all arms fall to their sides, and all eyes fix on the death of tomorrow." People who know this person aren't intervening in his/her drug problem. They just stand there as the person destroys their life. 3. "And you found everything you need to make a life complete, completely revolting " The drugs are "everything you need to make a life...completely revolting." "and they have safety and relief For sale down the street. I see you in line every day" This person buys safety and relief in the form of drugs. "I see you in line everyday", well..as the lead singer of a band, he probably does a good bit of drugs himself; maybe they have the same dealer lol; That line's not particularly important; Though it does indicate that the abuser is basically buying drugs every single day. "You had time to waste and I'm not sorry," The main line of the chorus--------seems kinda cryptic. Maybe the lead singer introduced this person to drugs, but will not take responsibility for their addiction. "such a basket case, hide the cutlery." I looked up the meaning of "cutlery". It's basically silverware, so it could be referring to a spoon to do heroine with. "I had time to kill, it's dead and buried." Sounds kinda like a repeat of the previous line "I had time to waste..." "You've got guts to spill but no one trustworthy." This person's in big trouble, but has no one to turn to. Perhaps she (I keep thinking it's a girl)doesn't want anyone to turn her into rehab. She's resisting being committed. The last paragraph in the song about the vultures isn't something i can clearly decipher, but he's probably referring to drug overdose when he talks about an unnatural death. Perhaps the stuff about the eyes has something to do with the drugs' effects. Idk... But there's certainly enough obvious stuff in there to suggest it's about drug abuse. |
