Kent – Mannen i den vita hatten (16 år senare) Lyrics

You are more correct about the high school thing actually! The song is a reference to graduation.
"The Man with the White Hat" is reffering to the white hats students wear when they finish upper secondary school in Sweden and the "(16 Years Later)" simply says that it takes place 16 years later. The tears comes because you're leaving the safe world and your friends to go on the adventure of life. "We pass their borders" is because you most likely move away from your parents thus passing their rules they set up for you.
The boy then comments about how it felt 16 years ago and the girl just laughs at it but he can see that she remembers it aswell but is afraid of this deeper subject of conversation. He can see in her eyes that she was as/is scared as him and that is a long way home to safety. "Finally, we create our own borders" means that they move to their own places and make their own rules about their life.
"There is the boy I never knew, walking on streets I never saw" means that he saw someone he went to school with but never really knew and then thinks about all the things he didn't do, but others did. And then he sort of excuses this with "Darling, we were all one time younger".
In the end he says that he is still scared of life, the way it just rushes by. "Darling, we will all one time die" (instead of sometimes) is a way to say that life is finite and that you should live life to it's fullest.
If you like Kent you should listen to Olle Ljungström, another similar Swedish artist! |

Guys, read his auto-biography Scar Tissue. This song is clearly about his cocaine-addiction when he was about 14 'til the late 90's. He has stated in interwievs about the song that this is true. |

Avenged Sevenfold – So Far Away Lyrics

I think Syn started to write this song when his grandfather passed away so it's for both Rev and Grandpapa Gates.
This album is a great therapy album, it's helped me through sometimes to. It got the sad parts (So Far Away and Fiction) but also anger (God Hates Us and Welcome to the Family) |
