Love this song. Very inspirational. So much historical value.
It's obviously about not giving up and working hard toward your goals. It presents 2 "impossible" things, an ant carrying a rubber tree plant, and a ram punching a hole in a dam. These things are obviously "impossible" but then it talks about how through persistence, they were able to accomplish what they were previously told was impossible. This is a perfect campaign theme song for a politician, and it was indeed used by J F Kennedy in his 1960 campaign. It's incredibly easy to surrender to futility against the enormous array of the world's ills. But you have to keep fighting and through persistence, they can indeed be solved. |

UGH. I do not like these lyrics at all. They are just all over the place. The song is awesome and it really rocks but I wish the lyrics were more centralized on a specific point instead of all over the place the way they are. |

I don't know guys..... I am not trying to piss you off, this is an awesome song, but when I listen to the song, it really reminds me of one of those corny pro-Christian sings I used to sing in Sunday School designed to subtly brainwash me, except with Satan's name replaced with God's. LOL. I can certainly see why it would piss off a person of faith for that reason.... but mostly I just think the writers of the song were being silly. There are a lot of references that I don't really understand which could mean anything (e.g. "motor", "red flowers", "heaviest of loads", etc), but the line "satan is the only one who seems to understand" really seems like a pro-Satanism song with a happy theme. Personally, when I hear the song, I think it's a metaphor for letting the bad side of your conscious taking over sometimes and just doing what you want. Either way it's an awesome song. |
