the first line references loneliness. he establishes the light is the company he seeks. in some of the lines he talks about various forms of light and how that light can burn when you hold or concentrate your hand or eyes on it. outstretched arms and pretend your free to roam, this suggests an illusion of freedom being spiritually fulfilling,cognitive dissonance. there is nothing there to embrace his outstretched arms. he is still lonely. |

i'm not entirely sure the meaning, but I suspect so caught in love we forget what the free do could have some thing to do with being in love with an idea. being narrow minded and obsessed perhaps?
anyway, it is a fantastic song, was really hoping for more like this from them. |

I always thought it was a bit more straightforward and about relationships. "just cause you feel it, doesn't mean it's there" one person feels the emotion but it isn't felt by the other party, its not reciprocated. theres nothing there between the two people. "theres always a siren singing in a shipwreck, stay away from these rocks we'd be a walking disaster" .sirens in folklore were a sort of alluring sea maiden that led ships to their doom. so with this metaphor the maiden could be the lady the person is falling for, the shipwreck is the resulting emotional fallout when things go sour. |

I get a vibe from this that it's a comment on the overly righteous and patronising. when people look down upon others because of their way of life and try to assert that the people they are casting judgement on need to be "saved" or helped. its really just a condescending attitude reinforcing their ego that asserts their way of life is better,and is masked in a 'i'm here to save you' good samaritan front. the sort of people that make a show of offering help and advice when it's not asked for. or needed. |

I think its about opening up, having fun, the singer is prompting a person to join him in letting his hair down. he's stating that we can have fun together and that the other person has a lot to give ,but you gotta welcome that idea and let yourself go and be open to it. |

always thought it was "re-arrange your face again, lack of truth ,who takes the blame."
I was about to comment on how that was a metaphor for changing your composure and constructing a lie,then projecting it as someone else's fault.
also thought the last line was "just synchronize" meaning stop being wrapped up in yourself ,try to get along with others. |

I think it could be about a lover who has been cheated on and his behaviour is either spiting their partner or he did something before he got cheated on. they've had a falling out over it but there is a feeling of remorse and wanting to repair things. |

to me its about not achieving enough in life that society demands you should make, but you will only be remembered in some or certain peoples eyes as a pile of bones. hes singing about a person who feels alone because everyone else is in typical careers or having some success and the person he's speaking for isn't. born into the grave might suggest the person has problems attaining those things as they are born lacking in the skills or motivation. |

I think it sums up a topsy turvy passionate relationship, possibly one which starts quick and could end fast but they both don't necessarily want that. the video I see as being a reflection of their partnership in that maybe they both feel society disapproves their partnership or they are fighting to keep together due to negative pressures from others. theres an us against them vibe to it certainly, I think the political theme was just a canvas to display a message about 2 people. |

when I first heard it I thought it was about being a good citizen and devotion to god or an ideal/principles. it certainly sounds profound in that sense. but reading the lyrics I think drug use is a good call. |

this is about taking drugs or hanging out with drug takers and low life's because he sees it as rock n roll or is under the impression it is a rock and roll lifestyle.
"hitchin a ride with the bleedin noses" - an obvious reference to cocaine users who snort their drugs imo.
more of my interpretation,
its about coming to the realisation this lifestyle is wrong and is leading him to a dead end, its set out in the first verse;
"Something's wrong 'cause my mind is fading" - the effect of the drug taking. or how he is wrapped up in being around those people and its effecting his old perception.
"And everywhere I look there's a dead end waiting" - either what is becoming of him and/ or hanging out with certain people will only lead to trouble. its leading him to a dead end.
"Temperature's dropping at the rotten oasis" - he sees in his mind the place he or others used to escape to through drug use is becoming rotten and unbearable. this line shows what he or others thought was an activity that would bring great wealth is an illusion and its disintegrating, he sees past this mirage.
"Stealing kisses from the leperous faces" - I think this is a reference to greeting people by kissing them on their face,which is customary in some social circles. he also considers they have a dark side with their habitual drug use and it is having a poisonous effect as their lifestyle is impacting upon him. |

musically this is one of my favourite songs by fnm. i'll take a guess at the lyrics although i'm not certain.
it sounds like he is a witness and a friend of someone in a relationship which has problems and that he is concerned for one of the people in that relationship. maybe he is involved in a love triangle. |
