I think this song is about someone wanting to find acceptance from the people around them, but doesn't; and hopes that when those people do accept him that it's not too late (Will you understand when I am too old of man?). I first heard this song when I was coming out and I really related to the search for acceptance described in the song. So for me it's always been a song about coming out. |
