The Chariot – Robert Rios Lyrics 14 years ago
I've been trying to figure out what is being said in this song. I like it.

Is it about wisdom? Freedom? Justice?

I know they use 'she' a lot in their lyrics, but I'm looking at it here and wondering if it's not a Proverbs reference to wisdom.

On the other hand they use 'the forth of july' and 'made in America.' This makes me think of Freedom or Justice.

The beginning of the song sounds like he's talking about the band performing, but I'm not sure how that fits into the rest of my thoughts.

Other thoughts appreciated!

Norma Jean – Vertebraille - Choke That Thief Called Dependance Lyrics 14 years ago
Alright guys, you do have some great thoughts on the meaning of this song. I simply have my 2 cents I'd like to add.

First off, Norma Jean (NJ) is unbelievably brutal in concert! What a show!!!!

Secondly, I think I'm sitting at the same table with Stevo, Shamgod and whyburn, but please do read on, even if you don't agree with their perspectives.

That being said, I'm on board with the addiction concepts already mentioned. Any of the already suggested meanings could be spot on, but it could also just be about dependence in general, whether it be a dependence upon a person, a feeling/emotion, a place, an actual drug, money/job or even a result of a lustful mentality. As citizens of a capitalistic society that is constantly pushing advertisements one way or another, mixed with a sinful/lustful nature, it's very easy to want things and more things! I hate to break it down like this for those that don't want to be reminded about a system of religious morals, but I do see this song as a challenge towards self-control and a warning towards a life without intention and value.

As Christians, the above struggles become that much more difficult without love. If we allow ourselves to walk in the love God has for us, the easier it is for us to love ourselves, forgive ourselves of the foolish things we can tend to do. As we tackle these issues with God's help, the more prepared we are to move on to the bigger and better things God has in store for us. Aktively Thinking has some interesting reflections on these issues (http://aktivelythinking.blogspot.com/2011/03/confronting-god.html).

As I finish up here, lets remember we can at least meet at the next NJ or metal show, if not at the cross!

Much love!
