| The Dillinger Escape Plan – Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants Lyrics

Well maybe a sleeping giant is a metaphor for problems in society which have been around for ages but are covered up, like taboos. At one point these problems will always surface and "explode" in society's face. Like most recently the child abuse by priests. The problem DEP wants to set fire too is imo date rape with the use of drugs like xtc or rohypnol or whatever. |

| The Zombies – She's Not There Lyrics

I always believed it's about a girl who committed suicide(how many people cried), a girl who appeared full of life in public(the way she lied) but had a dark side(childhood trauma, sexual abuse,borderline,...). The singer only just got to know her, that's why he can only talk about how she looked and acted(in public), and didn't know about her deeper feelings. It's not mentioned in the song they were together, so my guess is he met her once or twice, but fell for her hard. And then she kills herself...
Anyway, he sings about her in past tense, so she must be dead. |
