Emery – The Cheval Glass Lyrics 14 years ago
I feel like this song is talking about somebody who praises themselves and rejects God.
"It's time to back all your big words
So come on now, come on now
But your all lipstick and cheap skirts"
They talk big about themselves and big about God not being real but they don't have anything to back that up expect themselves. Postmodernism?

Then the last breakdown is just awesome.
"There is not enough wisdom or perception, etc."
There is no way to scientific way to disprove God and we are all dying and to not accept God is a waste. It's a waste on the lie that you are the only person that matters. All the praise that "lifted yourself up to the sky" was pointless.
"Bow before all that you've done."
You haven't really done anything if all that you care about is yourself.

Stoked for the new album! 8 days!

Emery – Story About A Man With A Bad Heart Lyrics 14 years ago
Ok, I may be a couple years late for this song, but I am just starting to dig into lyrics.
Anyways, the part where he is yelling, I am pretty sure he says "And you sit there and judge my commitment." His voice breaks into a cry when he is halfway through commitment, that is why it sounds kinda like charisma. It also shows the emotion in it.
And the end I think it says "I am standing in the need/lead, I am STAYING in the need/lead"
Not positive, but it sounds kinda like it.
And like brandnewftw I don't think this song is about a relationship per say. I think Emery uses relationship metaphors to delve into Christianity, maybe even their own personal experiences with relationships, to talk about sin in general and acceptance by the church and Jesus and such. The band even says (About the newest album, We Do What We Want) that it is their most spiritual, talking about God. And it still uses relationships. Sooo... My take is complete.
