it encompasses all of what you said: Nirvana, punk music, etc. Its everything that preaches negativity or hostility. Its saying that there isnt any point behind it. that music is all about being positive and being funky like 311 is. its also basically saying that 311 is the sh*t so quit your bellyachin', get with the program.

Most of you are pretty close. Its about any dream or desire or ambition that is in your mind. You know how valuable it, and ultimately YOU are, but you start listening to those voices that tell you that you cant do it. Because we all know that nothing good is ever GIVEN TO YOU, YOU HAVE TO EARN IT. and if you give up trying to fight for it, you will be haunted the rest of your life wondering what could happened.
Thats what this song speaks to me. i dont think he was talking about a therapist, or people spreading rumors about him. doesnt really fit Nick's vibe on this album. |
