This song is not about committing suicide. I thought it was at first, but it is about the doubting of God. "okay so you're feeling all alone i heard it on the radio in a broadcast from the sky" is an analogy for God, he feels all alone and God tries to reach out to him. He says some day he will question why it's worth living. "keep me up with your emotions at night then you can shoot me down over the ocean and sigh" is God reaching out to the narrator, but God gets frustrated and decides to let the narrator come to him. "certain Death" implies there is no after life because it is certain, there is nothing more than death. "haven't had the heart to yet" is the narrator not being able to gain faith in God yet. The narrator then questions himself "maybe by the time we meet, you can recognize a change in me" meaning by the time the narrator diees he hopes that when he dies he will have found faith in God, and God can accept him into heaven."i could count the times that it crossed my mind" is the narrator wondering if God exists. "sick in bed and dying from something i don't have, and will never have" is the narrator saying he knows why he is in poor health, lack of faith, and he says that he will never have faith even so. "and your best friends won't be your friends anymore, won't pretend anymore to let you down or try" Means that the narrator will not make it into the after life and all his friends will no longer be his friends because he did not have faith. PS: I may have read into this A LOT, so i could have TOTALLY misinterpreted this. |
