Though I agree this song is DEFINITELY about heroin, I think Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds really was about a picture julien drew. If you read the interviews with Lennon, Julien, and even Lucy Vodden (the girl who inspired Julien's painting), it's obvious it wasn't meant in a drug-related way. However, I do think the reason the imagery in that song is so vivid and psychedelic is because Lennon did LSD, not necessarily that the song was intended to be about it. Hell, he might have just been tripping while he wrote a song about his son's first crush. |

The La's may have said it, sometimes artists are forced to give PC excuses for the meaning behind their lyrics, but only an idiot would think this song was JUST about a girl. It's a double entendre, which is the true genius behind the song. Affectionate, inspired, and drug related: everything a good song from the decade of the flower children should be. |

i don't think it was "stolen." jake holmes toured with the yardbirds. i'm sure holmes had an appreciation for the fact that page was so moved by his work. by the time page re-made it yet again, it's obvious that it became almost an entirely different entity. which is why led zeppelin has a separate claim to the song. |

when i first heard this song, i thought the lyric was "soul of a woman was created (for love)" when i found out it was "(below)," it kind of depressed me. haha. it's like the exact opposite. |
