Aesop Rock – Daylight Lyrics 13 years ago
Hip-Hop is like any other genre, it grows and branches out over time. People like Lil Wayne and Drake went in one direction, and people like Atmosphere and Aesop Rock went in another. Just because something sounds different from the original doesn't make it a different genre. It just makes it different and new. I'm not saying you shouldn't hate on Aesop (I love him personally but I'm not stopping you from hating him), I'm just saying that Hip-Hop's changed. In the words of Aesop Rock:

"Next time you wanna be a hero try saving somethin other than hip-hop
And maybe hip-hop'll save you from the pit-stop"

Muse – New Born Lyrics 14 years ago
I think its about war and how the innocent people caught up in it are always the ones who are pushed around and bullied the most. They're fed up and Matt's giving them a voice. He's basically voicing their fear and their anger and their suffering.

Of course, I could be wrong. That's been known to happen on rare occasions.

The Decemberists – Of Angels and Angles Lyrics 14 years ago
I think, my personal interpretation, that this song is about dawn, and spending it with someone you love and care about.

"There's a purr of a pigeon to break the still of day"
"There's a tough word on your crossword"

All implications of a morning. The "as we go drowning" part is metaphorical. I think it means just to escape from reality for a little bit, and just live in the moment and see whats happening around you. The we bit is you and the person you care about.

The "theres a swallow, theres a calm" part is tricky, but I think the swallow is the bird swallow, and the calm is just showing how serene everything is.

"There are angels in your angles
There's a low moon caught in your tangles"

Another tricky part, but I think its going back to the love part, saying that you're the most beautiful when you are in your natural state, in the morning when you're just getting up and haven't "added beauty" to yourself.

I don't care if you think its right or wrong, this is just my personal interpretation. There is no right or wrong meaning to a Decembrists song. Thats one of the things that makes them so great.

Muse – Exogenesis: Symphony Part 2 (Cross-Pollination) Lyrics 14 years ago
Well, I can definatly see where flyersfan89 is coming from. It makes sense, but I always thought it was about how we're killing ourselves, and the more we do to try and save us, the deeper we dig the hole.

I can see a fictional world, but when he says "wade through toxic clouds" and "breach the outer sphere", I think Matt's referring to the fact that people today are so insecure about the way they think, they're afraid to do things to fix the world because they're scared of what people will think.

We need to "wade through toxic clouds" and "breach the outer sphere"; in other words, we need to break free from our insecurities and do what we believe in our hearts in order to do what's right. This whole symphony has a metaphorical message behind it.

But still, fictional world is always a possibility. With Muse, theres never one possibility.

Menomena – Dirty Cartoons Lyrics 14 years ago
I've always thought this song was about a guy who was caught by his partner for watching porn, then he got kicked out of the house and now he's begging her to allow him to come back.

Love Menomena
