I believe that the song is about old painful memories that he would just fade or be overtaken. Its about how people often live in the past and how he desires to live in the beauty of each moment. Instead of dwelling in the grimy parts of the past. |

This song is obviously about somebody loved. But here is what I think that it is in a more detailed way. The references to the stars and the heavens describes how intense the emotions were when they were together. The references to photos of New York and the way he said its distracts him and keeps him inside represent his memories of the time that they spent together and keep him in the past, unable to move forward. He wishes that the rockets were there because they represent his ability to get up and meet her again, their absence signifies that he knows that there is no way for him to meet her again.When he says that he is floating and lost in a silent ballet shows his state in life, he can't seem to get things on track no matter how hard he tries. He then describes how he fantasizes that they are together again and he starts to get lost in his own thoughts. |
