| Stroke 9 – Little Black Backpack Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
I assumed the "little black backpack" was a bruise. There's a guy asking a girl about the bruise on her back, and she doesn't want to talk about it. He says he'll beat up her abusive boyfriend, and she can expect not to get another "bloody black backpack back". |

Song is pretty self-explanatory. From the tone of the song, I feel like it's more about the death of a loved one than simply trying to pick up pieces after a break-up. Everything for her has gone down the drain, she's eating junk food and throwing it up, spending all her money on alcohol, throwing her body around to various guys just to pass the time. Her sole purpose in life is to forget someone she misses. She says "can't go home alone again", it might mean who she misses was a significant other, or maybe she just can't stand sleeping alone anymore, and needs to take any stranger with her every night. |

| Bastille – Pompeii Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| Oh yeah, the "rubble" is continuing the cycle, because they cleared it after the earthquakes, but then stayed for the eruption. | |

My interpretation is similar, but what I took from it was someone who couldn't get out of this downward spiral that they were in. The song mentions sins and vices a lot. And the song is telling the listener that you see your world collapsing around you, but if you close your eyes, this has been happening your whole life. Remember skipping your first class? Remember skipping class almost every other day? Remember failing the class? Remember saying you wouldn't skip anymore classes? Remember still skipping classes every year after? I think it's this endless cycle of "sins and vices". It could be about relapsing into drugs again, or going back to drinking. We were left in charge of ourselves, and we have no progress,"nothing to show". We might suddenly see ourselves stuck, petrified in lava, our life taking a turn for the worse, but if we closed our eyed, we'd realize that we were always stuck, we were watching this enfold the entire time and did nothing about it. So what are we going to to about this? Do we pick ourselves up, and continue the cycle (the rubble), or are we going to change the real problem? (our sins). It kind of matches with Pompeii because they could've avoided the disaster, but they ignored the earthquakes and paid the price. |

| Black Lab – This Night Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I think it's about regret. There's a dark side to us all, a "beast", and sometimes we forget to keep it in check. What goes around, comes around, and now the "beast" "is running my way". He regrets the bad things he has done, and it's eating away at him. Some people say "How do you sleep at night?" as in, how could you peacefully sleep knowing the terrible things you've done? Even though he's not forgiven, he still needs sleep and hopes for some peace. His own regrets are preventing him from sleeping, and he just wants some peace of mind. |
