I think this song is about how the world is such a confusing place and the more you look the more befuddled you become, humanity have two sides of that are both myriad- beauty and uglyness when the world is there to be cherished 'falling in tatters like the whipped wings of butterflies'. I think it's looking at all of the injustices that have happened, especially within slavery and that continue to happen today- looking around you and seeing challenges, when you feel things should be peaceful. She comments on smaller and large scale hypocrisies and lessons to be learned if the world has to change, she talks about herself in some instances like being a thoughtful deep person but not being able to think deep enough to make sense of it all. In some instances I think she's referring to others but also making it a universal thing- why is it that we put others down for happiness and finding love when we all love those things too? Why does logic fail and get lost? Simplicity is a choice we all try our hardest to fight against sometimes. Such a great song. It's so full of imagery and so beautiful and vibrant! Netsayi is great. |

| quite horrible lyrics, I wouldn't want to watch it in a film and don't really want to listen to it in my ears. I love the music, very cool, but I wish it belonged to some other story. | |

he's talking to his ex-girlfriend, 'pleasure that made you cry' so she's found out about the cheating but doesn't want to hear about it because of this he can't bring the pieces together to make the relationship work again, so, resenting that she doesn't care enough to talk about what happened he wonders if he really did care about her at all, considering he cheated. The fact that he wants validation for his actions in the first place means he regrets it after all so the only way he can move on from the pain is to walk away. angrily. tut tut! The bridge parts suggest to me that they might be quotes from arguments, I don't know who is saying what and what bit, but I think 'give me something to believe in..' is probably the singer because it sounds truthful and pained. I do find the lyrics a bit rough and tough on the ex, but then again he's expressing something quite ugly isn't he? Love the music though, it's so good! |
