i feel like this song is about the shortcomings of people. Wanting to find some way of living, looking for a place to settle down but failing. The world itself isn't welcoming, and you learn to forget what you want, what you have wished for back when you yourself were wild like the world. |

when this begins, it's unclear why they're far from home, the song speaks of "they", who come when he's sad and at his lowest, quietly without him knowing. Maybe it's sickness, or depression or grief.. I think it's left to interpretation. then you find out there's been a death "and i've watched you grow cold, and there's no tears left" and then you see why they're far from home and why they're in tears and suddenly everything's grey and unexplainable "And why do they come when the light stops raining? And where have the colors gone?" The questions in the song are not something that has any real meaning or can be answered, however there is one answer they keep repeating. It's because "you're so far from home". devestating. |
