| Florence + the Machine – Heavy in Your Arms Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Wow, the tone of this brilliant song is, well, so heavy. The weighty sound to it is what caught my attention — and I instantly thought it was about a struggle with deep depression. Before even listening to the lyrics, I almost felt a sense of depression simply hearing it, just the feeling of the song and I think the words confirm that. “Are you strong enough to stand, Protecting both your heart and mine?” Best line — of so very many!! I agree with everything eyesonherhorizon wrote, the betrayer/killer in the crowd is definitely depression, it can be nothing else. I’ve been taught that severe depression takes on a life of its own, it’s an extra presence constantly in the room, like a third person in a relationship that really can drive a wedge between couples. I feel that the last verse does offer hope, emancipation and deliverance. I’m so impressed, but not at all surprised, that Florence isn’t afraid to start discussions on important issues like this. I’ve never thought of the religious undertones, but can see that, which I find pretty interesting. This can be found in so much in life and art — if we stop and take notice. Oh, and I didn’t know it had anything to do with Twilight’s anything, and guess I don’t care. However people come to hear good music is fine by me (: http://essenceofwhy.blogspot.com |

| Angus and Julia Stone – Lonely Hands Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I really like this version of Just a Boy, which I luved too of course, but enjoy hearing Julia sing it as well. It has a totally different feel to it, as though the song grows up and takes on a heavier tone, probably just because it's slowed right down. I dunno, I do sometimes like songs by boys sung by girls, and vica versa. It adds a different dimension. So much respect for the Stones! | |
| Florence + the Machine – Kiss with a Fist Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| This is a slightly delayed comment, but I've only recently discovered the joys of Florence and her well oiled Machine, and the maniacal brilliance of this song! A song about feelings - about luving so much it literally makes both people crazy. About fighting so hard - it almost becomes hysterically funny because nobody knows whether to laugh or cry. Such a catchy tune! | |
