my take is the crossroads is a point in a man's life where one can either take the path of good or the path of bad. 1st verse the singer is is confronted with temptation and begs the lord to save him. 2nd verse hoping to be delivered from evil by catching a ride. 3rd verse singer is giving in and going to rosedale for a little barrelhousing which, my guess, means jamming boozing and doin the nasty. 4th verse you can run and tell his friend willie that the devil's got him and he's going down and it's too late. awesome song - one of the best ever. so simple and sticks to the basics booze sex and music. by the way I'm thinking about robert johnson's perspective though i love cream's cover too. |
