I believe neither does he... I think he's being ironic. The line "If I believe in heaven I deny myself a death - dying keeps my conscious of the way I waste my breath" gives it away. The fact that he doesn't believe in an afterlife, gives him so much more reason to enjoy this one life we have. Cheers |

Get dressed, jump out of bed And do it best. could also be Get dressed, jump out of bed into a vest. That would tie in with the interpretation that it's about the war in Afghanistan. Don't go that way. I'll wait for you. and So long, my friend And adversary. But I'll wait for you. Could both be addressing soldiers. They don't support the war, but they support the soldiers. I can't really make sense of the "friends listening on the door" though. Anyway, awesome song. Love it! |
