| Billy Joel – Movin' Out (Anthony's Song) Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Immigrants...? Lolwhut XD I always thought it was about how futile the struggle for wealth is. A few quotes to sum it up nicely: "Working too hard will give you a heart attack", "Sergeant O'Leary is walking the beats, at night he becomes a bartender": Examples of how everyone is spending so much time working to try and move up in life ("house out in Hackensack", "trading in his chevy for a Cadillac"). "If he can't drive with a broken back, at least he can polish the fenders": This part sums up the whole song quite well- Sergeant O'Leary has worked two jobs day in day out to afford a better car, but all the work he's put in without rest has 'broke his back', so he can't actually drive the cadillac he's worked so hard for, but "at least he can polish the fenders"; he'll look rich, and that's all that matters. In other words, the car is a metaphor for how we put so much energy into working harder than is sometimes good for us, just for money we spend on useless things to make ourselves feel rich or upper-class. Of course, the song is rejecting that lifestyle, as Anthony in the song is simply "saving his pennies for some day", happy with the life he has, and objects (assuming the song is kind of indirectly from Anthonys point of view?) to moving to somewhere quieter (or "moving up"). |

| Evanescence – Good Enough Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| To me it sounds like it's about being in love with someone you know is manipulating you, but you just don't want to think about that, because you're in love with them too much to care, especially with the lines "I've completely lost myself, and I don't mind", and "I can't say no to you". "I'm still waiting for the rain to fall, Pour real life onto me" sounds like you're waiting for everything to go wrong because you know it can't last. | |
| Poets Of The Fall – Psychosis Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I can't say I know what the song is really about, but to me, this song is about religion. "Digest another hallucination" is about how when things get tough for someone, they turn their back from reality and to their hallucinations of gods and deities in the hope that they will help them sort their lives out. It's a mental illness. "You can see anything there that you wish" sounds like the way people will manipulate the words of their holy book to justify ANYTHING; for example, the bible clearly shows homophobic, misodjonistic views, and yet christians are always trying to justify this. | |
| Poets Of The Fall – Passion Colors Everything Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I always thought this song was about politicians, celebrities etc, who put on a perfect image that everyone loves, while underneath they know how corrupt and imperfect they are. I'd pick out a quote but you can look at pretty much any line and see it lol. | |
| Utada Hikaru – Sanctuary ~Opening Version~ Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| This song fits the game perfectly, better than Passion IMO (in contrast to Simple and Clean, which had nothing to do with anything XD). For example, "I watch you, fast asleep/ All I fear means nothing" sounds like Riku's trials while Sora was comatose in the White Room. | |
| Flyleaf – Treasure Lyrics | 14 years ago |

To me, this song always felt like the story of finding resolve to fulfill one's dreams. Not through religeon (not that I have any doubt that this song is religeous, Flyleaf being christian and all), but off of one's own back; finding new strength within yourself and learning to face the world and become someone treasured and great. The 'story' is all the hardships you've overcome in order to gain strength. The line 'as the sun starts to bleed' sounds extremely dark, as if reflecting some kind of tragedy that maybe spurs inner growth by desire for vengeance, of the need for strength to get through it. "Just look at what he's done, how he's laying down his life" sounds like the person who wronged them pitifully begging for forgiveness. I know this is a totally different interpretation than the intended one, but it's nice to have a non-religeous perspective on religeous songs now and again. |
