It deals with how quickly time flies, perhaps wondering at how a girl he briefly meets (see verse 1) is doing now. But generally, the song deals with the idea that you can always change or remedy bad decisions, as the only certainty in life is "that we live and die". |

It's a song about an old man reflecting on his wife's grave, and missing her dearly. He remembers dancing with her (hence the spoon solo/ragtime-ish piano solo, but that's all he has left. Very powerful lyrically, and rather an odd topic for a group of young men to be singing about. Oh, and Noel Crobie is a boss on the spoons. |
