| Cool song- although my favorite is still "Union Forever". I don't exactly agree with the statement though. First of all it's sad and a tragedy and horror show and all of that, however you want to say it, but if you don't graduate highschool even if your family teaches you a lot of skills then you know if you are white you're likely to be homeless. Other than a few employers who mistreat Mexicans I don't know that as of 2011 they are so badly treated by White like in the song. Im sure it has happened but the song makes it sound like it is the norm and Mexicans don't do that stuff. I just don't see that treatment by whites in my part of the world and we have a lot of Mexicans here. Also we have Mexican prostitution and (allegedly) under 13 taxi dance Mexican girls who (allegedly) hook as well. But they are pretty much only used by Mexicans and not Whites and Whites wanted it stopped and were told by Mexicans that it could not be stopped because it would be racist to Mexicans to do it. Ok maybe Amiercans buy Mexican drugs but is the Mexican cartel a white thing? And do whites cause the Mexican government to exploit the people or the people to marry so young without a high school level education? Guess what the poorest people in America are the Whites from Appalachia. So you know it's a tragedy about the government and poverty in Mexico but the idea that Americans are THE group causing it or causing so much of it as put forth in the song is not reality. Just ilke we don't cause the taxi dancing or other things either. I went to a surprise midnight show de bikini with some Mexican guy I was told to take out and the lights go out and the club becomes a strip joint all of a sudden and the guys were having live full sex with the dancers until the guard would tap them on the shoulder and tell them to pull up their pants and stop. If you did that shit at a white strip club you'd get your ass kicked and left for dead in the worst way possible before you got your zipper down. Unfortunately, the reality is that there's just not a lot you can do these days without education. And if you as I have seen in my experience are going to spend your money on the $15 beers and $50 cover for the pool hall chick thinking you are going to get laid- which is Mexican to Mexican btw- you are going to lose all your family's money and never get a hand job let alone laid. And the guy I know just kept going back for me and never got any. Nobody ever talks about the other side of it because that would be racist. What can I say? | |

This is supposed to be the official meaning of the song: It comes from a Mormon to Mormon interview. The leader keeps his messages hidden so we don't peg him as a Christian rocker. But he is apparently going to therapy because he believes he is too attached to celebrity and will be damned as a result. He is asking God, Is our relationship human and I'm damned or are you controlling me like a puppet? I hope he can learn the love of God is with him and out of free will. Martin Luther inserted the faith alone line into his version of the Bible. The original Greek is that we receive justification for our sins by faith alone not Works alone. Anyway obeying is a free choice. You have to decide to do it. All the Protestants say that much. Isn't that free will? And don't worry I'm nowhere where I am supposed to be in my life and working up slowly. Don't worry Brandon- you are human and when you come to God he forgives us of our sins. Then we have to train like a athlete to do what it takes over time to make it out of short term over long term interests. To get to where we are able to focus on what we really value in life because we want what God wants us to have. But we go for what is easy in the short term and don't prepare like for the marathon and it chips at us overtime. We all get part of the equation and we have to fill in the blanks. If you have money you are lacking something else. MRI's over a scientific amount of time show that the poor people minus sin of Governments and so on usually are a close-knit community. They marry early with someone who is spontaneously a lot like them. They do maybe menial work but the way in which their mind works. They get supported at work almost all the time. They are with generations who get on really well. THey do things together they enjoy. They are provided with the factors for lack of fear and total happiness. So that is the key to the right life. Brain scans over time show they are 4 times happier than the American's studied in the studies. I saw the village on CNN and they look that happy. You can't fake what you saw- it's totally real. So you know it's not always about money. It's the amount it takes to get to as close to that situation as possible. Or at least that is what Psychologists are supposed to believe. So apparently that is the meaning. Don't be afraid to be human Brandon- you are not a puppet on a string! Realy it's all about the process of accepting negativity, pushing through fear and observing. Must be nice- I know I'm not there. But the 65 year old who is test on the scans as the happiest person ever measured. Maybe we should all drop out and live in a sparse room and study scripture and give thanks to God or be a Shaker or one of the Amish. They seem to have a lot more consistant happiness and Joy than the rest of us. So it's not about lots of money although it might take more money in some places than others to get to this point unless you go the real meditation route and spend 2-3 hours a day doing it right. It must work if they are off the charts on the brain scan. But first of all the key is to accept your negativity or that we are human and not dancer. |

I just did some quick research and found that in the MTV interview he states he liked the Hunter deal of the generation going weak. But this one might really cause posters to revise there meaning on this one: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1598299/20081030/killers_the.jhtml It's a Mormon to Mormon interview and the real deal on the topic. While little is addressed in a direct sense and apparently because "Brandon" doesn't want to be pegged as "Christian Rocker"- a lot of his themes are apparently about succumbing to sin and how he is terrified to the point of working with a therapist on the issue about his mortality and that as a rock star he is crossing the line of the devil by enjoying aspects of it too much and he may be damned. Something to do with Mormon beliefs. And from that little information I now realize that yes I was reading his lyrics in the right range of direction and maybe because I am desperately trying to work better with God too. And he means don't tell me stuff like rely on your grace or trust in Jesus- he wants direct answers from God That kind of thing and so on. So human is the sinner and dancer is the person being lead by the Spirit to correct a lot of the misinterpretation on this site. This not an interpretation based on my opinion- the guy just hides a lot of these things from the fans so he is called a pop/rock star and not a Christian Rocker. |

I disagree with the main interpretation on this site. First of all God is asking the person of the song to surrender to him and the person is kind. I think that means I was brought but I didn't surrender- I was kind about it but I didn't surrender to God. I continued my Las Vegas style sinning. The open door is God's path that he wants the person to take to move to a better place over time. A place devoid of the sin. The person is telling himself to let go of his sin and purify his heart with Jesus. To cut the cord of his attachment to his secular ways. Are we human- are we sinners- or are we dancer- using our free will to move with the Spirit and joyfully dance in God's direction. The decision to do this is very scary at first because we are so attached to the short-term pleasures of the secular that don't last and ultimately backfire on us. We are influenced by the secular rejection of the spiritual. On the exterior the person is cold or sinner. But you know what they say about the warm heart- under it all he is spiritual and moving for the fulfilling life over time that this brings not the hurt of sin. But still his short term interest is sin and he is compelled by it. And so he is praying to God- Lord please encourage and help me to not sin and to dance through the spirit to the life where I am able to let go of my ego, stay in the moment, observe not think, use my identity, get to what I value and keep taking this actions in a complete and fulfilling way and not be bogged down by my sins. To go through the stuggle, the wrestling with Jesus until I gain the life that is really compelling and fills me with compassion on a regular basis. Forget all the other concepts of the Bible- I respect them I appreciate your grace and so on but God tell me am I destined to keep sinning over and over again and remain broken or will I get to the place where I am lead by the Spirit to the truly great and joyful life- the all consuming compassion of Her presence inside of me. Now this isn't about devotion or anything else other than will I let go of my sin and come to Jesus and gain the Spirit. This is now all about me- will I pour the milk and stop my sin and do what it takes to work with the Spirit. or will I just leave the pitcher of milk on the table and not take the action- continue the sin. Will my system or secular body be alright when I dream of home tonight or my secular life- the sinning in Las Vegas. Let me know, will I be willing to go through the difficult process to where I am overcoming my sin and renewing my life- am I still feeling the Spirit enough to work through him? Tell me will I keep sinning as before or will I dance through the spirit by coming to Jesus and follow you will God? I don't think it's coincidence that the lyrics have Christian elements in them just as it wasn't for All These Things I Have Done. The writer comes off as some one desperate to experience God's healing and frustrated or troubled that he has yet to achieve this goal and wondering why God hasn't responded with the answers- the tangible results or helped him to get to this point. Like he says in the other song he is asking not to be kept on the back burner or on the bench waiting for God to make a move or to get to the point where he takes the right actions. Please God put the spark in me that makes the difference and causes the evolution to occur. So to summarize to be human is to be secular and a sinner To be a dancer is to be spiritual and to move through the guidance of the Spirit. The writer or Brandon as apparently the more attached call him is praying to God to let him know when and what he can do to stop his tendency to sin and to make the spiritual evolution to what he imagines will be a much greater existence. Don't keep me on the backburner God. I am feeling the soul of the Spirit but I'm not a soldier or I'm not part of the Church Militant, one of the Christians who is actively fighting my sin and moving the greater life when we stay in the moment and take action while observing not thinking about our negativity that stems from our sins. Maybe God is waiting for "Brandon" to make the first move and make more of an effort to end his sin. Who knows? |

| Beach House – Norway Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Another great attempt at the greatest song of all time. I am not going to challenge the excellent interpretations of the song and how it is about Norway But I will say it is nowhere near Ventura Highway. Not even close. In fact it is a rip-off of Gypsy by Fleetwood Mac. | |
| The Black Keys – Tighten Up Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| My interpretation is that Sweet T got it right. His feelings are telling him to be ready for when she slows down and sees things his way. The point where she is ready to commit is what I'd add. | |
