Brand New – Yeah (Sowing Season) Lyrics 15 years ago
Losing all my friends
Losing them to drinking and to driving
Losing all my friends
I want it back

(perhaps this is self explanitory)

Slipping out the back
Did you really think we wouldnt notice?
Slipping out the back
In the pouring rain

(I think maybe it was necessary to leave home without parental permission)

Yeah
Yeah

But you loved your wife
You were always faithful to her always
Buried both the kids
In the summer sun

(the parents, maybe, lost more than one child to the military?)

Praying for this life
Huddled in the brig all with the shipmates
Praying for this life
And I dropped the bomb

(I believe this is CENTRAL to this song.... I believe that like in "Untitled 02 (Brother)" his brother joined the military (Navy, most likely) Hence "praying for his life, huddled in the brig all withh shipmates")

Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah, yeah

What you waiting for
Searching for his brother
In an empty room across the hall
Is he coming back

(obviously he still wants to walk into his brother's room and find him there. nd wonders if he will see him alive again...)

Listening at night
Waiting for a sound to come up the stairs
Listening at night
Waiting for the sound of the car park

(anyone who has ever lost a family member to the service of their country should understand this.... waiting for the serviceman and chaplain to come to the door with a terrible letter.... )

Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah, yeah

Call him up this summer
On the phone
Need to know what it feels like again

Summer skin
Found another lover
Tell him straight, call him up again

I'll call him up again, yeah
Call him up again

Tying both your shoes and
Looking past the ocean for the signal
Waiting for a body
In a open box

(again, fairly self explanitory)

They don't send you letters
They don't telephone you and they don't send
They don't send you letters
But you're waiting for them
You write him, yeah

Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah

Call him up this summer
On the phone
Need to know what it feels like again

I'll call him up again

Call him up this summer
On the phone
Need to know what it feels like again

(this song says so much to me, and it's definately one of my favorites.... I know we all hear what we want to hear in the lyrics of songs, but this one and untitled 02 really speak volumes to me, though I have not lost my brother, I can not imagine what it would do to me if ever I did... I don't know Jesse's story, or if he even had a brother in the service, but that's what I hear... thanks)
