Imogen Heap – Goodnight and Go Lyrics 14 years ago
I agree with everything that's been said about this being a stalker situation.

There seems to be a push-pull theme in a few of her songs when it comes to attraction (for example, also in The Walk). She likes this guy, but at the same time she really doesn't want to. She says "it's bad enough we get along so well." And "say goodnight and go" sounds like it could mean that's what they always do, say goodnight and go their separate ways, OR she's asking him to say goodnight and go because she really doesn't want to like him as much as she does and she wants him to go away..

It's almost like she prefers the day-dream version of him to the real him. And maybe she prefers to stalk him outside his window because it keeps him comfortably at arms' length...she doesn't really want a real relationship with the real person maybe...

Imogen Heap – The Walk Lyrics 14 years ago
I agree with lemon_accw and a few others who see sex in this...even the title "The Walk" reminds me of the way boys will try to come onto girls by asking them if they want to go for a walk...

But it also seems like the sex here isn't completely consensual...I wouldn't say it's rape exactly, but there's a seduction aspect to it...it's not what the woman planned and she doesn't really want it from the outset. Maybe she really did think they were just going for a walk....

She finally gives in and decides to enjoy it when the song gets to this part:

No response on any level, red alert this vessels under siege,
Total overload, systems down, they've got control,
There's no way out, we are surrounded,
Give in, give in and relish every minute of it.

It's pretty cleverly written, using the metaphor of a ship under enemy attack.

Then she blames the man for the way she feels afterwards, saying "it's all your fault, la la la la..."
