saw him live, and my god, this song was amazing he had giant balloons and confetti everywhereee he beckoned everyone to get out of there chairs and dance around like fuckin crazy people which most people did except i was on the second level and no one got up so my boyfriend and i thought "fuck this" got up and lost our shit, whilst everyone else stayed seated and looked at us weirdly ITS FUCKIN SUFJAN STEVENS MAN, HOW COULD YOU NOT WANT TO GET UP AND EMBRACE THE MOMENT, I MAY NOT EVER SEE HIM AGAIN which i think is so like the 4th section of this song (its a long lifee, better pinch yourself) needless to say, would die to see him again |

Saw Sufjan live last month, needless to say he was amazing before he played this he gave a pretty lengthy description he compared it to Niagara falls, and how he was on this plateau and then suddenly theres this drop, this vast opening and how he longed to embrace it, understand it, and be a part of it im not sure how that applies directly to the lyrics, but after hearing the explanation from him and then hearing it, i loved it even more i guess you can sort of hear it in the lines: "Vesuvius Oh, be kind It hasn't occurred No it hasn't been said Sufjan, follow the path It leads to an article of imminent death Sufjan, follow your heart Follow the flame Or fall on the floor" |
