Akron/Family – Set 'Em Free Lyrics 14 years ago
I feel as though this song has vast existential meaning. I think the lyrics are best read as being written by (a) 'God' addressing politicians/representatives. The " 'em " or them that this(these) God (gods) is (are) talking about would be the general public or humanity as a whole.

So this god says, "set them wild, set them free, let them be, let them be their own release, let things breathe, let it be." This 'set them free/wild'/'let it be' part is referencing the fact that representatives shouldn't interfere with others actions (IE:what we believe in, what chemicals we administer, what professions we choose, what our subjective values are, etc.) You know how politicians are always wound up and ranting about everything? Well.. "Settle down now, settle down now..." .And in the end, "hmm, hmm, hm soooo go ahead and set them free"

On the surface that the song seems as though it has very libertarian ideals. However I think that would be selling it short, I believe that it has a very humanistic nature (with the instrumentals considered for the overall song meaning). Humanism is the overall theme.
