Mostly I only knew about there popular stuff off of "Sublime" 1996 cuz that came out when I was a Freshman, I didn't get 40 0z to Freedom till later, but now it's my favorite album of all time. Past couple of years I've been really jamin out to Sublime and learning the lyrics. STP is definitely my favorite Sublime song and anyone who has ever been tweaked out of there head, scared to leave the house, or maybe just loves taking shit apart will love this song. All that he needs can be found at the STP because his friends are there and nobody is gonna fuck with them. you obviously have no idea what the hell your talking about. He did all the drugs weed, coke, meth, heroin, lsd, mushrooms, the list goes on. everybody assumes that Brad was a total heroin junky, when really he just loved to party. One day he had real bad luck and decided to shoot too much heroin and he nodded off and never woke up. Just because he died of a heroin overdose does NOT mean that heroin was the only drug he liked to do you idiot. A jack move is the act of robbing someone for money or drugs. That's something that you have to do sometimes when you do alot of drugs. Plus he wrote this song way before he had tons of fans. He died before sublime's most successful album even got released. and Kingston is the capitol of Jamaica, "They love us for our Kingston sound". To me that means our reggae sound. |

I really like your interpretation of this song. Str8Ballin/Gettin Money(same song) was the first 2pac song that made me love his music and lyrics, and definately my favorite. I do have a couple of issues with your translation though. I think he is sharing the philosophy of thug life. "I would share the definition of ballin with you white folks but The game is too be sold not told so uh Fuck you" eight ball of cocaine= 3.5 grams or 1/8 of an ounce Ballin literally means sellin a lot of crack and gettin money. "I'm up before sunrise first to hit the block Lil' bad motherfucker with a pocket full of rocks" I'm pretty sure he means a pocket full of crack cocaine "learn to throw them thangs get my skinny little ass kicked Niggas laughed till the first mothafucka got blasted" Throw them thangs means throw punches. He learned to fight and defend himself They laughed at him when he got beat up till somebody got shot "I smoke blunts on the regular, buck when it counts I'm tryn to make a million dollars outa quarter ounce" 7 grams= $700 bought by a dealer for 2 to 3 hundred. 400 to 500 profit. "pour some liquor on the curb for my niggas that deserve it" I like what u said bout this 1, but pour out liquor is just a salute to the dead, every time you open the next 40oz, or bottle of booze you can poor some on the curb so they can have a sip. So the dead know they aren't forgotten. "Rather die makin' money than live my life poor and legal As I slang another ounce, I wish it was a kilo" he'd rather live life in the fast lane gettin his through rhyme or crime he don't want to work a 9 to 5 job, get married and raise kids he's still small time buying an ounce at a time to sell. wishes he's a distributor buying Kilograms and selling ounces instead of grams. Overall I Like your translation better, to me your meaning is more about taking the Thuglife philosophy and applying it to everyday life and how to be successful. I just don't believe that's what was going through his mind when he wrote the song. 2pac is my personal hero and I think his legacy reaches much further than just music. He was a revolutionary and he used his gifts to bring change. He told outsiders what it was like to grow up in a real ghetto, but more important he inspired a generation to do whatever they can to change things that are wrong and make the world a better place. |

I think that 2pac knew that he would die young. He chose a lifestyle and lived it to the fullest. "I live the THUG LIFE let the money come to me Cuz you can never take the game from a real G" He knew that he was going to die, but he thought that he could pass on his game and the next 2pac might not get murdered from gang violence. |

Alice Cooper, Kiss, Marilyn Manson were all shock rock. Brotha Lynch was the first shock rapper and the best ever. I never had allota respect for his cannabilism/baby nuts n guts theme, but it's his gimmick and it has been working for more than 15 years. Lynch is my favorite rapper period. |
