This is a pretty upfront song, and there is not much to decipher. Sherri was caught off guard when Chad told her that he wanted a divorce. They hadn't even been married a year. And yes, Chad left Sherri because he had feelings for Hayley, and wanted to pursue them. Anyways, this song is a very personal warning to Hayley to be careful.
