Oomph! – Das Letzte Streichholz Lyrics 14 years ago
I have always had the impression that this song was about a girl who was sexually abused by her father and neglected by her mother, finally snapping and taking them down with her.

The first thing that I feel hints at the sexual abuse aspect is that she asks her mother, "Why did you never help me?" as opposed to, "Why did you hurt me?" which implies that her mother overlooked the abuse, rather than participating in it. The other line is "Wisst ihr, dass eure Liebe todlich ist?" There is no "love" that is deadlier or more toxic than parental rape.

Truly a very sad song.

Interesting that a few people brought up pregnancy. If this is true then it could explain the significance of "shifting the furniture around" because moving furniture can be a way to induce a miscarriage. I dunno if that's actually what the line refers to, but I wasn't sure what it meant before, so that's a possibility.
