I agree with basically everything said. But I believe that undue confusion surrounds the word "prey" and the phrases that accompany it... The lyrics are separated in writing, but rythmically the phrases: Never do let them fall Prey to the dust and the rust and the ruin That names us and claims us and shames us all are sung as one long part. Never do let them fall prey to the dust and the rust and the ruin that names us and claims us and shames us all. .... falling prey to the hardships, I think the words separated into stanzas bring confusion when "fall" and "prey" are part of the same phrase. just my two cents if that could clear things up for anyone reading this. |
