You're not alone, opineyuns. It took me a little bit to figure out where I'd heard it before, but they are definately similar. Maybe it's a purposeful recall? Consider the fact that this album has an overarching theme of ending/rebirth, and this song specifically feels like a message to a former self. "Messenger Bird's Song" was released around the time Conor essentially began touring full time. It could be that he purposefully reused the same melody, almost like he's bringing it back to life to kill it off. |
