| @[Spiderssocold:6830] Except that it does make sense because the next line is "you should count your change before you're even out the door" because you pay for things at a convenience store/gas station and they pass your change back through a drawer or trough between the glass. | |

I don't mean to nit pick but I thought he says "I've walked a file line" like when you were told in school to stand in "single file" line. I took it to mean he followed a path blindly w/o questioning it. That line I'm not 100% on, though. Maybe he does say "fine, old" line. But I do know that he says "[But there's no] Hallelujah." As in there is no rejoicing b/c "it will be gone soon." Just my thoughts and version. Love this song. |

city off a stamp = send it off with a stamp. and I believe the next line is: cuz (as?) the winter laughs(?) in the branches above you higher than where we look(?). I'm not 100% on that second line, but I do think hes saying something about "winter," because it's restated in the next verse "remember the end of December." To oversimplify, it seems to be about saying goodbye to a former love. Someone smarter than me can elaborate. All I know is the song rocks, and (like a lot of RAA's songs) the frenetic drumming is awesome. |
