Idk about anyone else, but to me this song sounds like a rejection of religion or of god. The lyrics at the beginning, as well as the lines: "Look into my eyes and I see What do I see? Nothing at all Take another look around me What do I see? Nothing at all" To me it sounds like a person whose gone through hard times, and asked for help from a higher power and not recieved any. This man being virtuous and kind, doing everything he was told to isn't getting any help when he's in trouble which has led him to doubt that a higher power is even there and he's asking for a response. |
