He thought about leaving his wife to somehow save hers without having to quit drinking. He wrote this song as a remembrance of his addiction. He almost lost it and he can tell you how to do the same. I believe after he sobered up his marriage was safe. Its a terribly sad song with hope. I am sure faith and love were two things that he felt saved by. | |
