Well, now that we have most of the lyrics 90% dead on, (I hope), we can begin to interpret this monster.
I think it's pretty simple, actually, being Rody is talking about how people just waste their lives by getting drunk and doing stupid shit. And then how sometimes they'll end up in a REALLY bad situation that ultimately makes them decide to turn away from the lifestyle, I.E the "Knife right through your heart/exactly what you need" line.
I think it also talks about the pettiness of our common concerns, "Kev's hair just keeps falling out/Chris just keeps getting fatter/none of that shit really matters". Then it goes on to say that the only thing that matters is the "Backdrop ghost circling your floating corpse at the end of the haunt". Perhaps backdrop ghost is a metaphor for self-reflection, or the memory of the people in your lives of how your choices affected you and the people around you in such a negative way.

No, it definitely doesn't say that. Listen closely to that line. when he says, "Keeps getting fatter", "Keeps" has a clear "S" sound, which would not fit into your interpretation. |

Ah, ChibiJT, he is still saying forever on the line, but its multitracked and he's saying Always at the exact same time over it. It took me a second to hear it. |

Wowguy, that was completely uncalled for. Understand that everyone has a different auditory perception and use different EQ settings for their music. In my case, I pump up the bass and treble and drop the mid frequencies half way down, making the instruments stand out more. The guitar in that riff gives the illusion of an "Aaaah" sound, rather than a "Au" sound, making bottoms sound like batters. I can only even here a clear "M" sound when I crank the mids up. Also note that Rody is notorious for pronouncing words strangely, so sometimes you're never really sure until the official lyrics are released.
That was completely uncalled for and I do not appreciate it, especially since I worked out these lyrics for the purpose of posting them here and helping everyone understand the song. Don't claim to intend "no offense", when that was clearly the sole intention of your statement.
Needless to say, you are correct in your interpretation and I will change it, but that goes without saying I still am not happy with the way you criticized me. |

After listening to the song again a few times, I've confirmed that what he says is "BATTERS UP" not "Bottles" or "Bottoms". It also matches what I believe the song is about, which is about immorality. I.E drinking, sex, etc. After all, sex is more often than not referred to with baseball metaphors. First base, Second base, homerun, etc. Batters fits that. |

After looking up Versailles, I agree. It's much more relevant to what I believe is the song's concept. Fixed- thanks.
I thought, "This is our first time" sounded weird anyways. lol |

If anyone can figure out what Rody is saying at the ???'s please comment! Also if I got something wrong, let me know. I'm pretty sure he's not saying "Palace of the swarm" but that's the closest thing I could hear. |
